May 24, 2025 No Storms
Oklahoma City
This was a day when there appeared to be a substantial risk of severe weather, but none occurred. The Storm Prediction Center had an enhanced risk of severe storms over central Oklahoma, including a 10 percent risk area for tornadoes (but no hatched area indicating any risk for strong tornadoes). I returned Tour 4B to Oklahoma City for the conclusion of the tour then rented a car at the airport and drove to Norman to meet some friends. From there, we drove back to Oklahoma City for a party there. Chasing was not in my plans for the day, so I worried I'd miss something great. I did not. The skies were overcast to partly cloudy, but the cumulus never grew very tall.
Indeed, there were storms in northern Oklahoma and also to the southwest, but none occurred in central Oklahoma, and the single tornado that occurred was in Texas, away from the greatest apparent tornado threat.
