April 22, 2021 Drizzle

Western Oklahoma

Day one of Tempest Tours 2021 season featured overcast skies and drizzle. We drove to western Oklahoma to get in position for the next day, which featured a risk of severe storms in southwestern Oklahoma and adjacent portions of western north Texas. We visited the memorial for Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, and Carl Young, who were killed in the 2013 El Reno tornado. Then, we drove along portions of Route 66, enjoyed lunch in Hinton, saw Red Rock Canyon Park, and one or two other curious landmarks near I-40 before settling in at the La Quinta Inn at Clinton.
