July 31, 2022 Storm Chase
Iowa/Minnesota
There was a slight risk in Minnesota as a returned from Iowa after a wedding. I was hoping some decent storms would develop on my way home, but none developed close to my route. Later, a storm developed in south central Minnesota, and it produced a funnel that descended more than halfway to ground. One chaser got a video of a few branches getting blown off a cluster of trees below it, so it qualifies as a weak tornado. I thought the southern storms might be the best ones to chase, but I had to get back home by evening, and storms were expected in northern Minnesota, too. Those storms just weren't quite as interesting.
