Northwestern South Dakota Supercell
We didn't do as well today as we did yesterday. Drove more than 12 hours to see a supercell when we could have driven an hour to see a dramatic tornado. Oh, well. It's still fun and better than a day at work. The supercell we saw had one of the most persistent mesocyclones I have ever witnessed. I was hoping for some sort of regeneration outside of the rain area, but the meso persisted until we left and drove to Lemmon, SD at night. Meanwhile, I watched some great video (during a rest stop on our way back) of tornadoes just 50 miles (or less) south of where we started the day.
