May 26, 2023 Supercell
Clovis, New Mexico
We chased a supercell near Clovis, New Mexico. The lower levels of the atmosphere were too stable for tornadoes today, so we did not see one, but the storm was rotating and producing wall clouds.
Our group at breakfast. Happy from the previous day's chase. |
There was still some hail on the ground from yesterday's storms. |
Storms develop near House, New Mexico. |
Storms consolidate near Melrose. |
Here is a cell phone capture of the storm. |
North of Clovis, a wall cloud develops. The storm is finally looking interesting. Note the flooding around us. |
The structure improves as the storm approaches us. |
The wall cloud pulls condensation from ground level. This could have been hail fog. |
Our route for the day. 235 miles including the drive to Amarillo on our way back to OKC to conclude the tour. |
