May 20, 2025 Hike

Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas

The big trough, which had provided two consecutive days of a moderate risk of severe weather, had moved eastward out of our chase territory. It was a down day, so I looked for a place to do some hiking, touring, or just wandering around. We found the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, which had miles of hiking trails. We decided to spend at least a couple hours hiking around here to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. When we were done, we drove down to Wichita to stay at a hotel and hope for some storms in southeastern Kansas for Day 2.
