September 30 Auroras

Pughole Lake

I drove up to Pughole Lake to watch auroras.


Steady auroral arc. This means a substorm is probably coming soon.


The substorm starts.


I dropped the exposure a bit on the camera as the auroras intensified.


Auroras expand to cover most of the northern sky.


Late phase of the substorm: patchy auroras fill more of the sky.
