September 7-8, 2015 Auroras

Home

Wow! I was expecting tos ee the auroras as the twilight faded, but I did not expect to look straight up and see them above my driveway! The solar wind conditions did not look that good. Well, I guess it's September, so it does not take as much of a disturbance in the solar wind stream to spark some bright auroras. I shot a bunch of stills in my driveway and called the neighbors to tell them to go outside and look up. When this first substorm faded, I drove out to the lake to take a few more pictures.
