April 22, 2017 Auroras
Prairie Lake Dam
A high speed stream of solar wind brought auroras overnight, along with G2 (Kp=6) geomagnetic storm conditions. I had to be packing for my upcoming storm chase trip, but I decided to head out to Prairie Lake instead.
The first "explosion" of dancing auroras. |
A few seconds later at 16 mm. |
Looking a bit more to the west. |
Looking to the northeast. |
Here's a little more color. |
Back to 24mm as the auroras brighten up again. |
Prairie Lake is alway good for providing reflections. |
