July 26, 2013 Auroras
Pokegama Lake
This is a shot of auroras viewed on Pokegama Lake south of Grand Rapids, MN overnight on July 25-16, 2013. The scene was a really fun one to shoot as the moon was rising above a thunderstorm, and there were crepuscular rays from the moon showing as multicolored auroras were showing on the other side of the picture. This was the third time the same coronal hole high speed stream affected Earth's magnetosphere. The other two nights this coronal hole provided auroras were on May 31/June 1 and June 28/29.
