August 16, 2015 Auroras
Grand Rapids, Minnesota
A coronal mass ejection (CME) from a filament eruption arrived at Earth a day earlier than predicted, and that brought strong (G3) geomagnetic storming around sunrise. I was not expecting this, so I slept through the brief appearance of auroras as twilight was growing. I wished for a continuation of the event into the following evening, and my wish was granted.
As soon as it became dark enough to distinguish them from from the fading twilight, I could see the auroras on the northern horizon.
