September 5, 2012 Auroras
Grand Rapids, MN
The interplanetary magnetic field dropped south, so I went out to the cabin to shoot any auroras that decided to show up. I got out to the shooting location early enough to time lapse the receding twilight, and then the auroras showed up. It wasn't a terribly late outing for me as the moon rose by around midnight, and some high, thin clouds moved in, reducing the contrast.
The early part of the show featured a multi-colored aurora.
The colors went away, but the reflections in the water were nice.
The moon soon rose, diminishing the contrast.
8mm shot showing a second band just to my south.
High, thin clouds moved in, but the auroras shone behind them.
