March 26, 2025 Auroras
Wabana Lake
Twice in a week, I had a chance to shoot auroras out at Wabana Lake. My frequent trips to the Twin Cities so far this year have made me really appreciate the opportunities I have had when I'm back in Grand Rapids. Who knows how long I will be able to enjoy these shows.
The event was not as intense as the one on March 22, but the colors were still bright, and I really enjoyed viewing this show. As was the case four nights ago, Bz started southward and then flipped northward, so the best lights were relatively early in the evening. I was able to get to bed at a reasonable hour (not long after midnight).
This time, the auroras were not pushing as far south, and the band of zodiacal light was more visible beyond their southern limit. |

The auroras retreat northward but also get brighter. |
Shot with my 24mm lens, this is probably my favorite image of the night. |
