March 26, 2025 Auroras

Wabana Lake

Twice in a week, I had a chance to shoot auroras out at Wabana Lake. My frequent trips to the Twin Cities so far this year have made me really appreciate the opportunities I have had when I'm back in Grand Rapids. Who knows how long I will be able to enjoy these shows.

The event was not as intense as the one on March 22, but the colors were still bright, and I really enjoyed viewing this show. As was the case four nights ago, Bz started southward and then flipped northward, so the best lights were relatively early in the evening. I was able to get to bed at a reasonable hour (not long after midnight).

Nice Auroras
This time, the auroras were not pushing as far south, and the band of zodiacal light was more visible beyond their southern limit.

Shot with my 24mm lens, this is probably my favorite image of the night.
