October 19, 2024 Auroras

Bayfield, WI

On my drive to the Aurora Summit, knowing that solar wind conditions looked favorable, I stopped briefly to shoot north over the Bayfield Peninsula and got some weak auroras in the picture. The moon was rising in the eastern sky, and there were some high, thin clouds, so visibility wasn't great, but I got auroras anyway.

The solar wind had some southward Bz to -7 nT and speeds up to 450 km/s.
