September 18, 2023 Auroras
Cottonwood Lake, Chippewa National Forest
Solar wind conditions were good for auroras, but the sky was a little cloudy in town (Grand Rapids), so I drove northwest to a site I had not visited in several years-- Cottonwood Lake north of Deer River. A small substorm ensued, and I got some nice pictures before I headed home.

Auroras brightened near the horizon and looked good before the clouds moved in. |
