August 8, 2022 Auroras
Ovando, Montana
We were on a family trip to spend a week at a ranch in Montana. I brought my camera along, knowing there was some high speed solar wind and, therefore, a chance of auroras. The full moon was later this week though, and that meant the dark sky conditions for seeing auroras would occur pretty late, well after midnight. I didn't set an alarms. I would just have to wake up. I wanted to get some sleep, and if I was really tired, I'd probably just sleep through the show, and that would be okay. However, I did wake up and was rewarded with an auroral glow to the north along with STEVE to the west-northwest.
