Prairie Lake
The solar wind condition looked pretty good for auroras, so I headed out to Prairie Lake, hoping for a break in the clouds. Satellite pictures showed this was probably the best location for a break in the clouds to move north of me, or maybe I wasn't motivated to go too far because it was a work night, and the clouds would be around (meaning a lot of effort would be spent travelling, just to see clouds). Whatever the case, the clouds broke up a bit around the time the auroras brightened and got taller, so I came away with some pretty decent pictures.

Auroras brightened, and you can see some purple color through the clouds, too. |

The clouds parted long enough to reveal purple columns. |
