September 1, 2019 Auroras
Fargo, ND
Technically, I was on the Minnesota side of the border, but I count it as Fargo because that's where I was spending the evening. The auroras came out for a second evening but so did the clouds. I took a couple friends along hoping that the auroras might brighten a bit more than they did, but they stayed somewhat dim, and the clouds encroached further upon our location. Even though Bz was only in the -3 to -5 nT range, the solar wind speed was around 725-750 km/s, so I thought things could potentially get bright. It might have gotten a little brighter after we headed back to town.
A few auroras on the horizon. |
