September 11, 2018 Auroras
Coleraine, MN
I suppose this was a high speed stream of solar wind (yes it was--from a very persistent coronal hole, which I would also see in November). I decided to start the evening by climbing the ski jump and viewing from there. The jump overlooks a bit of the City of Coleraine, and there are quite a few lights there, so the photography is not as easy there as it is in other places where there are no lights in view. The Magnetation plant had been shut down and the lights turned off, so that made the view to the direct north quite a bit darker.
The lights did not really shine when I was in Coleraine, so I walked back down the hill and took a couple photos from the bottom. I then drove over to Pughole Lake, north on Highway 38 where the lights got a bit brighter.
