August 16, 2018 Auroras

Grand Rapids, Minnesota

A coronal hole pointed toward Earth, bringing a high speed stream of solar wind.  After several days of smoky skies, we had a cold front move through, creating better sky conditions for viewing. The solar wind magnetic field did not point very far south, so the show was rather mellow, but it was nice to see the auroras for the first time in three months.  There were even a few Perseid meteors.

Nice Auroras
My first view of the auroras in about three months.
