July 25, 2017 Night Sky (and one faint auroral column)

Chippewa National Forest

I found myself north of town and decided to do some night sky photography. I was not expecting to find auroras due to rather mundane solar wind conditions, so I visited a couple boat landings I had used to photograph the auroras from last September. Looking back at the pictures, it looks like the auroras did sneak into the second image, but just BARELY.


Caribou Lake.


North Star Lake. Can you spot the auroral column? It's between the bright star and the bright house light on the right.
