February 24, 2017 Auroras
Grand Rapids, MN
Bz went south a little bit, and the snowstorm that was predicted to move through Minnesota took a more southerly track, sparing Grand Rapids from the clouds. We were on the northern edge of the cirrus cloud shield, which allowed us to see auroras on the northern horizon, below the line of sight of the clouds. It wasn't too much of a show, but the snow on the black spruce in the foreground added a nice effect. The city lights behind me, reflecting off the cirrus shield above me, lit the foreground nicely.
