August 8, 2016 Auroras
Coleraine, MN
Enhanced solar wind conditions from a high speed stream of solar wind occurred over the weekend. On Sunday evening, I decided to go out and shoot for a bit. I found an elevated shooting location that I shared for a couple hours with a flying squirrel. They seem to be fairly curious animals, but I suppose it's understandable that this one was curious. Humans don't usually occupy such places at night. I wish I had gotten a picture of the squirrel.

The City of Coleraine is to the right, a Magnetation facility is just off the image to the left, and there's a barely perceptible glow of auroras over the left half of the image. |

The auroras did not get any brigher than this. |
