Some slightly southward magnetic field orientation in the solar wind resulted in the appearance of an auroral oval. I started at Prairie Lake but later found myself at Johnson Lake at the boat landing, where I could still walk onto the ice. It certainly wasn't an impressive display. In fact, it probably takes somebody who knows exactly what to look for to see the auroral arc in the picture below. I could enhance it with saturation or vibrance, but I decided to leave it as it came out of the camera.
