October 14, 2015 Auroras
Grand Rapids, MN
A disturbed solar wind environment has been really common lately. There have been northern lights visible most nights in October so far. Tonight, I stayed close to home due to a busy work week. I was able to see the lights relatively early in the evening before I went to bed.

I was in bed before 11:00 PM. As luck would have it, though, I could not sleep. There was a lot of stuff going on at work, and I was fretting over that. Well, honestly, a southward Bz was not helping, either. At 1:00 AM or so, I decided to just go back out. The auroral oval was on display at the northern side of town. I watched it for an hour or so. When I finally felt tired enough (around 2:30 AM), I returned home and slept.
