October 4, 2015 Auroras
Bowstring, MN
I set up on Bowstring Lake this Saturday evening. The magnetic field vector in the solar wind continued to point south, bringing an auroral oval within view. There was not a lot of variation in the magnetic field, and that seemed to keep the auroras from really dancing, and we mostly had a steady arc along the northern horizon.
After shooting a couple hours on Bowstring Lake, I decided the duck hunters would start showing up soon (just after midnight) to claim their spots on the lake for the morning hunt, so I departed to check out a new shooting location on Deer Lake.

The clouds start to move in as I take a couple photos on Deer Lake. I would return to this spot in three nights. |
