October 15, 2014 Auroras
Grand Rapids, MN
A high speed solar wind stream, and apparently, also a very weak CME impact, brought a southward magnetic field and faster solar wind speeds during the day. The magnetic field component Bz gradually went north during the evening, but we were able to catch a little bit of an aurora before 10:00 PM. It's getting darker earlier now, so there are more opportunities to see early auroras.
