The Night
A slightly southward Bz got me outside at 3:00 AM CDT. Bz had been south for several hours, so the likelihood of visible auroras was pretty high.
I went north of town into the Chippewa National Forest to take a few photos. The auroras were out, and I observed them for an hour or so, but I never saw a strong substorm. I did see a few Perseid meteors, though.
